
On August 29, 2025, the Global Intelligent IoT Alliance (GIIC) successfully held its third member congress and the fifth meeting of its first council at the Shenzhen Futian Convention and Exhibition Center. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Hu Caiyong, the Secretary-General of the GIIC Alliance. Representatives from 188 member units of the alliance, including the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei, Haier, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Construction Research Institute, JD.com, China Unicom, and Midea, gathered to listen to the progress report on the alliance’s work, review important systems, new standard releases, and the establishment of new specialized committees, and jointly plan the future development of the alliance.


At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. He Xiaoyu, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Alliance, gave a detailed report on the work progress of the Alliance from January 2025 to the present. Over the past eight months, the GIIC Alliance has achieved remarkable results in member development, organizational construction, and business development, laying a solid foundation for future development.
Since the second member congress on November 22, 2024, the Alliance has added 100 new member units, bringing the total number of members to 249. The Alliance has continuously improved its organizational construction by establishing five working groups: Technical Standards Group, Certification Group, Talent Development Group, Industrial Development Group, and Industry Scenario Group, and has also established the Communication Specialized Committee.
In terms of standard certification,the Alliance has completed four unified interconnection standards for HarmonyOS ecosystem devices and two standards for HarmonyOS SDK user rights protection and personal information collection. The Alliance has also completed the evaluation of the first batch of five HarmonyOS ecosystem unified interconnection products and the evaluation of the first batch of ten HarmonyOS security and trustworthy SDKs.
In terms of talent development,the Alliance has compiled the “HarmonyOS Talent Ecosystem Blue Book,” established HarmonyOS talent certification standards, and held a series of activities such as the HarmonyOS Ecosystem Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. It has also jointly established the HarmonyOS Talent Development Promotion Working Group with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Talent Exchange Center and conducted key topic research.
In terms of industrial promotion,the Alliance has held various types of activities such as policy promotion, industry forums, partner exchanges, and ecosystem conferences. These activities have provided members with a rich platform for industry information and industrial exchanges, effectively reaching governments, colleges and universities, developers, and industrial partners.
In terms of external cooperation,the Alliance has reached cooperation intentions with a number of organizations, including GSMA, GTI, OpenAtom Foundation, China Computer Federation, China Electronics Society, China Software Industry Association, China Communication Standards Association, and China Electronics Standardization Association. These collaborations aim to jointly enhance the global influence and market competitiveness of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, strengthen technical discourse power, and improve the international recognition of solutions.

Subsequently, the member congress passed the “Draft Election Rules for the Council,” providing clear rules and guidance for future council elections and offering institutional guarantees for the standardized construction of the council.
Concurrently with the third member congress of the GIIC Alliance, the fifth meeting of the first council was also held. During this council meeting, the addition of deputy chairman units and director units was reviewed. The China Academy of Home Appliances, the China Electronics Technology Standardization Research Institute, and Hisilicon Technology Co., Ltd. were added as deputy chairman units of the Alliance, while Wangli Security Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications were added as director units. The addition of these new members brings new resources to the Alliance and will further promote the development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
The council also reviewed and passed a series of new standards, including the unified interconnection standards for HarmonyOS ecosystem devices and the technical requirements and testing methods for user rights protection and personal information collection of HarmonyOS SDK, as follows:

In addition, the establishment of the Construction Specialized Committee and the HarmonyOS Security Specialized Committee was also reviewed and passed by the council. The Construction Specialized Committee was initiated by China Academy of Building Research, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., Qingdao Haier Air Conditioning Electronics Co., Ltd., Guangdong Midea Warm Air Equipment Co., Ltd., Shandong Yimeike Energy Conservation Service Co., Ltd., Hebei Xiongan Ruian Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Qingdao Hisense Network Technology Co., Ltd., China Construction Fifth Bureau Installation Engineering Co., Ltd., and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. It aims to enhance the Alliance’s influence in the field of intelligent construction.
The HarmonyOS Security Specialized Committee was jointly initiated by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Wuhan Antian Information Technology Co., Ltd., AsiaInfo Technologies (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., Qi Anxin NetGod Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Beijing Microstep Online Technology Co., Ltd., Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., SoftCom Information Technology (Group) Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Lanzhou University. It is committed to safeguarding the security of HarmonyOS.
Mr. Yin Deshun, the CTO of Haier SanYiBird and the director unit representative of the IoT Standard and Industry Promotion Committee, reported on the work plan of the IoT Committee. Haier, China Unicom, China Mobile, National High-End Intelligent Home Appliance Innovation Center, FOTILE, JOMOO, TCL, Xinxian Semiconductor, and Huihai Cloud jointly participated in the launch ceremony of the IoT Standard and Industry Promotion Committee, marking the official start of the committee.

In addition, the Alliance held a grand plaque presentation ceremony for the newly joined deputy chairman units, director units, and member units. From then on, these new members officially became part of the Alliance and will join hands with the Alliance to promote the development of the Internet of Things and the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of the Alliance member units discussed the Alliance’s work. Representatives from participating enterprises spoke actively. They expressed recognition of the Alliance’s rapid development and achievements this year, support for the Alliance’s future work, and confidence in the future of HarmonyOS. Mr. Hu Caiyong, the Secretary-General of the Alliance, stated that the Alliance will continuously standardize its management, enhance its service capabilities, and strengthen its ecosystem. Member units will join hands to create a broader market through the Alliance platform.

The 2025 HarmonyOS Ecosystem Conference, hosted by the GIIC Alliance and undertaken by HarmonyOS Ecosystem Service (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., will be grandly held at the Shenzhen Futian Convention and Exhibition Center from August 30 to 31. At that time, more than 3,000 experts, entrepreneurs, developers, ecosystem partners, and government leaders from the HarmonyOS ecosystem around the world will gather to showcase HarmonyOS achievements, experience HarmonyOS applications, discuss the future of HarmonyOS, and jointly write a new chapter in the globalization of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
