Building Unified Harmony SDK Standards to Lay the Foundation for the Prosperity of Ecosystems Across Industries

On August 30, the Harmony Ecosystem Conference was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. At the Harmony Ecosystem Partner SDK sub-forum, themed "Building Unified Harmony SDK Standards to Lay the Foundation for the Prosperity of Ecosystems Across Industries," the latest progress of Harmony ecosystem partner SDKs and the phased results of the SDK Preferred Library were released. The "Harmony SDK User Rights Protection and Personal Information Collection Technical Standard Interpretation and Release Ceremony" and the "Joint Release Ceremony of the Chongming SDK Detection Tool and Harmony SDK Preferred Library Evaluation Standards" were also held, marking a new stage of standardized and systematic development in the construction of Harmony SDK standards.

Over 1000 Harmony Ecosystem Partner SDKs Released, Covering 21 Fields

Tang Libo, Deputy Director of the Institute of Technology and Standards at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), said in his speech at the conference that SDKs are an important part of the mobile Internet application ecosystem. While innovation and development are active, they also face challenges such as the protection of personal information and user rights. CAICT will work with the industry to jointly promote efforts in technology research, standard formulation, and application promotion to provide comprehensive support for the healthy development of SDKs under the Harmony ecosystem.

Li Jiannan, Vice President of Global Ecosystem Development and Sales at Huawei Terminal Cloud Services, shared the latest progress of the Harmony ecosystem and the development strategy of Harmony ecosystem partner SDKs. Currently, the number of Harmony OS 5 devices has exceeded 12 million, and the Harmony ecosystem has passed a phased milestone. Over 30,000 Harmony applications and atomic services are being developed at full speed, covering the fields of Internet, government and enterprise office, government and people's livelihood, and leading PC applications. Over 1000 Harmony ecosystem partner SDKs have been released, covering 21 fields in full. Leading SDKs have basically completed Harmony transformation to meet the needs of various application high-frequency scenarios. In the future, Huawei will guide the healthy and orderly development of Harmony ecosystem partner SDKs through the collaborative mechanism of industry alliance certification, government supervision, and Harmony ecosystem partner SDK preferred library.

Zang Lei, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Standard Institute of CAICT, provided a professional interpretation of the technical standard "HarmonyOS SDK User Rights Protection and Personal Information Collection Requirements." This standard was led by the Standard Institute of CAICT and jointly formulated by Huawei and SDK service providers under the framework of GIIC (Global Intelligent IoT Alliance). Based on the requirements of current policies and regulations, the standard clarifies the rights and obligations of Harmony SDK developers and users, and stipulates specific technical requirements such as SDK information disclosure, function configuration, and scope of information collection. It provides a detailed compliance guide for the development of the Harmony SDK ecosystem. Subsequently, evaluation and certification work of Harmony SDK will also be carried out in accordance with the standard.

Formal Release of Harmony SDK User Rights Protection and Personal Information Collection Technical Standard

At the conference, the technical standard for Harmony SDK user rights protection and personal information collection was officially released. Representatives from the Institute of Technology and Standards of CAICT, Huawei, GIIC, Beijing Yisha Information Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhizhangyi Technology Co., Ltd., Daily Interactive Co., Ltd., Compliance and Standardization Research Institute, Beijing Zhiyou Network Security Technology Co., Ltd., UMTS (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Yunzhong Rongxin Network Technology Co., Ltd., and Harmony Ecosystem Services (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. jointly attended the release ceremony.

Formal Release of Chongming SDK Detection Tool and Harmony SDK Preferred Library Evaluation Standards to Assist Developers in Safe and Efficient Development

At the same time, the Chongming SDK detection tool and Harmony SDK preferred library evaluation standards were also officially released at the conference. Representatives from the Institute of Technology and Standards of CAICT, GIIC, and Huawei attended the release ceremony.

The Chongming SDK detection tool is based on the new standard "HarmonyOS SDK User Rights Protection and Personal Information Collection Requirements." It deeply integrates the professional standard interpretation of alliance members with the existing tool capabilities of Huawei to jointly build a healthy and secure SDK ecosystem. Focusing on the basic security and compliance of SDKs,it conducts detection on 12 major items and 66 specific sub-items, including the division of SDK business functions, authorization consent for personal information collection, scope of personal information collection, system permission application and use, external data transmission of SDKs, personal information processing rules of SDKs, and guarantees after SDKs stop service. It aims to comprehensively improve the security and compliance baseline of Harmony SDKs.

The Harmony ecosystem partner SDK preferred library strictly follows national standards and industry norms to build a more comprehensive evaluation standard system. It comprehensively evaluates from multiple dimensions such as compliance, personal information protection, network security, ecosystem contribution, and developer experience, allowing high-quality and reliable SDKs to stand out. Preferred SDKs will obtain the preferred logo certified by the platform and enjoy the preferred right to be recommended and displayed to platform developers. Relying on the two core entrances of DevEco Studio and Huawei Developer Alliance official website ecosystem market, it helps developers to efficiently select and conveniently develop.
