The Smart Home Working Committee of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium (GIIC) was officially established.

In today's world, where digital and intelligent technologies are evolving at an accelerated pace, the Internet of Things (IoT) is profoundly reshaping people's lifestyles. Smart home appliances and intelligent home products are becoming increasingly popular. However, for a long time, the interoperability barriers between different brands and products have been the key bottleneck restricting further industrial development. Against this backdrop, the establishment meeting of the Smart Home Working Committee of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium (hereinafter referred to as the "Smart Home Committee") was successfully held in Beijing on October 24, 2025. The newly elected Chairman of the consortium, Gao Tongqing, the Secretary-General, Hu Caiyong, and representatives from enterprises across various links of the industrial chain attended the meeting.

The Smart Home Committee is headed by the China Home Appliance Research Institute, with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, Midea Group, China Mobile Communications Group, Qingdao Haier Technology, JD.com, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and Hisilicon Technology Co., Ltd. serving as deputy director units. In addition, well-known enterprises such as Hisense Group, Sichuan Changhong Electric, TCL, and Hunan Goke Microelectronics have also joined as member units. These members cover all aspects of the smart home appliance and intelligent home industry chain, from technology research and development, product manufacturing to market promotion and service operations, providing strong support for the committee's work.

In terms of organizational structure, the Smart Home Committee has established several working groups, including the Scenario Demand Group, Technical Service Group, Standard Certification Group, Industrial Development Group, Ecosystem Cooperation Group, and OpenHarmony Interconnection Group. Each working group is led by corresponding director and deputy director units, responsible for research and advancement in specific areas.

The proposal for the Smart Home Committee was reviewed and voted on at the First Board's sixth Council Meeting of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium. Secretary-General Hu Caiyong read out the "Notice on Agreeing to Establish the Smart Home Working Committee" at the meeting. The newly elected Chairman, Mr. Gao Tongqing, also attended and delivered a speech. He pointed out that with the improvement of living standards, the family, as a basic unit of society, has seen an increasing demand for smart homes. Therefore, the establishment of the Smart Home Committee is inevitable. It will be a highly active and broadly scoped professional committee, promoting the development of home appliances and smart home industries, and will also play an important role in the development and construction of the consortium.

Subsequently, the representatives clarified the responsibilities, objectives, and work plans of the Smart Home Committee, smoothly reviewed and voted on the "Regulations of the Smart Home Working Committee," and elected the director and deputy directors, and appointed the secretary and members. After the on-site voting by the attending representatives, Qu Zongfeng from the China Home Appliance Research Institute was elected as the director of the Smart Home Committee. Gao Hong from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Shang Zhe from Midea Group, Shi Chao from China Mobile Communications Group, Pan Rong from China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, Cui Zhen from Qingdao Haier Technology, Zhang Yanlu from JD.com, Qin Yao from Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and Zhi Hao from Hisilicon Technology Co., Ltd. were elected as deputy directors. The secretary and members were also appointed. Thus, the Smart Home Working Committee of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium was officially established.

The newly elected director of the Smart Home Committee, Qu Zongfeng, stated that the smart home appliance and intelligent home industry is vast in scale and closely related to national development. Aligning with the "15th Five-Year Plan" and providing support for the implementation of national technology is one of the main tasks and goals of the committee. The committee should be consumer-centric, creating products that meet consumer needs and truly improve the living experience of the general public, rather than being intelligent for the sake of intelligence. He also emphasized the need for collective wisdom and the establishment of effective mechanisms to create an internal driving force for the joint development of the industry.

Finally, the attending representatives actively spoke and discussed topics such as how to promote the development of the smart home appliance and intelligent home industry, establish a standard system, and leverage the advantages of the OpenHarmony system, proposing several constructive suggestions. Everyone agreed that the establishment of the Smart Home Committee will provide a good platform for communication and cooperation in the smart home appliance and intelligent home industry, helping to integrate resources from all parties and promote the innovation and development of smart home appliance and intelligent home technologies.

The establishment of the Smart Home Committee is an important milestone in the development of the smart home appliance and intelligent home industry.
