The First Board of Directors Expansion Meeting of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium Successfully Convenes in Beijing

On October 9, 2024, the first Board of Directors expansion meeting of the Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium GIIC(also known as the Harmony Ecosystem Consortium), was successfully held in Beijing. Representatives from 22 leading companies in the industry, including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Petroleum Kunlun Manufacturing Company, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, Huawei, Haier, and others, gathered together to discuss the future blueprint for the development of smart IoT.

Academician Zhang Hongke, in his opening speech, stated: "We are currently in an information society where the prosperity and development of all walks of life are inseparable from the empowerment of communication, networks, and information. Therefore, the country also pays great attention to innovation in this field and supports the establishment of international industry organizations represented by the GIIC. With a glorious and arduous mission, GIIC will always adhere to leading the development of the information industry in the future, building world-class IoT solutions, and helping to create a new ecosystem of smart interconnection."

Secretary General Hu Caiyong detailed the vision, goals, work achievements, and future plans of GIIC at the meeting. He pointed out that GIIC is committed to building a new industrial ecosystem of intelligent interconnection, creating an internationally influential and credible industry platform by uniting global industry chain partners, and promoting the Harmony Ecosystem intelligent interconnection ecosystem to the world.

The representatives listened to a detailed report on the progress of the GIIC's work, reviewed and approved several consortium governance rules, including the management measures for membership dues, and had in-depth discussions and exchanges on GIIC's future work plans.

The initial Board of Directors members of the GIIC were composed of five members: China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Haier, Huawei, SGS, and VISIONVERA. This Board of Directors expansion meeting also invited 17 leading companies that are joining the convenes's Board of Directors, including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Petroleum Kunlun Manufacturing, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, 360, Harmony Ecosystem Service Company, Shanghai HiSilicon, iSoftStone, China Software International, Talkweb, Unionman, Archermind, Hoperun Technology Corp., Moorgen, and Unkoku. The addition of these industry-leading companies undoubtedly injects strong new momentum into the steady progress of GIIC.

With the continuous expansion of members, GIIC is gradually building an international consortium organization of leading companies in multiple fields, demonstrating strong ecological cohesion and industry influence.


Subsequently, the preparatory group for the Harmony Ecosystem Promotion Committee and the IoT Standards Promotion Committee also reported on their respective work progress and plans. The Harmony Ecosystem Promotion Committee, with the open-source Harmony Ecosystem as its core, is committed to building a technically leading Harmony Ecosystem standard and certification system, promoting the healthy and orderly development of the Harmony Ecosystem. The IoT Standards Promotion Committee focuses on the planning and execution of IoT ecosystem businesses and has established a leading industry innovation smart home standard system, steadily advancing testing and certification work.

After the review of the conference, it was agreed to establish the Harmony Ecosystem Promotion Committee and the IoT Standards and Industry Promotion Committee. The Harmony Ecosystem Promotion Committee will be chaired by the Harmony Ecosystem Service Company, with Mr. Du Jinbiao, the company's general manager, serving as the chairman of the promotion committee. Haier and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology will serve as the joint chair members of the IoT Promotion Committee. The two promotion committees will work together with industry ecological partners to jointly advance the construction of industry standards, the implementation of application scenarios, and the prosperity of the ecosystem.

The successful convening of this meeting not only deepened the communication and cooperation among the alliance members but also injected new vitality and hope into the future development of GIIC. With the joint efforts of all members, GIIC is certain to take more solid steps in promoting the development of the global intelligent IoT industry and embrace a future of certainty with intelligence.
